President’s Message

posted: November 19, 2021

Dear LUS members,

Unfortunately, we have not been able to have face-to-face meeting the last two years and I would like to acknowledge the work that our past two presidents, Dr. Kenneth Perego (2019) and Dr. Joanna Togami (2020) have done in planning those meetings. We are planning to have a face-to-face meeting in Shreveport, Louisiana, next April 1 - 3, 2022, with a slightly revised academic program. Moreover, we are discussing having a couple of promotional LUS dinners in towns with low involvement to try to drum up interest and listen to concerns on a state level to better support our membership.

One issue is political action that our society can assist with. Dr. Raju Thomas, the current AUA president, has asked for the LUS to send members to Washington DC. Any LUS members interested in going to Washington DC next spring for political action issues, please alert the team.

We are super fortunate to have the current AUA president, Dr. Raju Thomas, as an LUS member, and we look forward to the next AUA meeting, which will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, in May. Congratulations Dr. Thomas on your election to AUA president! LUS wants to support both in any way we can.

For the LUS meeting over the first weekend in April, we plan to have speakers from all four academic programs and all the major towns. Our sponsored SESAUA speaker will be my friend Dr. Rafeal Carrion, Chair and Professor of Urology at the University of South Florida, who plans on giving two talks (current management of priapism and penile fracture) and be the referee of the resident's quiz bowl. More information to come next month.

Enjoy Life,

Gerard Henry
